‘Ablaze’ by any other name, would smell sweeter.

Hey. I’m sorry it has been so long. I got caught up in exams and personal arrangements. I am planning on releasing a follow-up to Nexilis soon, but have not yet found the time to finish it. To my personal fan of the series (if you are reading this Tills), I promise I’m working on it! To the rest of you, in the meantime, please enjoy this completely unrelated short  I wrote. Thank you. Clara.

“HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!”

“Um.. What percentage of truth do you want your answer to include?”

“100! OBVIOUSLY!”

” Okay. We’ve been friends for quite a while now, and I honestly have no idea.”

“75?”

“A lifetime of friendship, and I believe I may have a clue as to how this happened, but am not wholly sure.”

“50?”

“Are you free tonight? I may have seen someone set fire to it earlier, but I didn’t catch them in time to do anything substantial about it.”

“25?”

“Do you remember the day we met? That was a good day… ”

“UGH! FINE! 0?!”

“I got bored and set fire to the house… Also, I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU, YAY!”

“…So when you were talking about the level of honesty, you where only referring to our friendship?”

“Quite possibly, yeah. Sorry. I lied. I’m not in love with you.  I shouldn’t have toyed with your emotions like that. I suck.”

“YOU SET FIRE TO OUR HOUSE!”

“Shouldn’t you be focusing on what’s truly important here? I just completely manipulated your poor, innocent, fragile heart into believing someone finally, truly, loved it with a burning passion, before quenching the flame, and letting that heat-of-the-moment romance turn to ashes.”

“DID YOU JUST MAKE MULTIPLE PUNS?!”

“would it ablaze your anger if I said yes?”

“NO! IT WOULD COMPLETELY EXTINGUISH OUR RELATIONSHIP! ‘HEAT-OF-THE-MOMENT’, OR OTHERWISE!”

“Aha I see what you did there!”

“BURN IN HELL!”

“But, I already tried to.”

My first day of university didn’t go exactly as planned, but at least it would light the way for memories to come.
